Travis Scott’s Astroworld tops Billboard 200; dethrones Drake

Travis Scott’s Astroworld debuts atop the Billboard 200 this week, giving the rapper his second no. 1 album. The album, which features artists such as Drake, Frank Ocean, Stevie Wonder, James Blake and more, had the second-largest debut of 2018.


Astroworld dethrones Drake’s Scorpion, the largest debut of 2018 after a five week run at no. 1. Scorpion falls to no. 2 on the chart this week.

According to Neilson Music, Astroworld earned 537,000 units in the week ending Aug. 9. With 270,000 traditional album sales, Scott has the biggest sales week of 2018. Billboard reports “the last album to notch a bigger sales week was Taylor Swift’s reputation, which started with 1.2 million copies sold on the Dec. 2, 2017-dated tally.”

Rounding out the top 5 on this week’s Billboard 200 chart is Mac Miller’s Swimming, Post Malone’s beerbongs & bentleys and YG’s Stay Dangerous, respectively.
