Thinfilm partners with Tapì Group to better serve the wine and spirits industry with NFC tags – BeverageDaily.com

Tapì, headquartered in Massanzago (PD), Italy, and Thinfilm, based in San Jose, California, will develop and implementation Thinfilm’s NFC-technology.

Matthew Bright, senior director, Product & Technical Marketing, Thinfilm, confirmed the news at the AIPSA (Active & intelligent packaging Summit Americas) in New Jersey (June 3-4).

He said the two companies have begun to develop NFC-enabled OpenSense closures so brands can protect their products, assuring their customers the contents of the bottle are authentic and safe to consume. 

OpenSense detects when a closure seal has been broken and alerts the consumer that the container or bottle may have b tampered with. 

A second closure type, based on the Thinfilm SpeedTap tag, is designed to allow brands to open a direct channel to customers for delivering real-time experiences throughout the consumer journey. .
