Soul Fish Cafe is opening a new location in Cordova this spring.
The new restaurant will be at 8413 U.S. 64. The Memphis-based restaurant chain currently has three restaurants in the Memphis area, located in Midtown, East Memphis and Germantown. It also has a location in Little Rock, Arkansas.
On Wednesday, co-owner Tiger Bryant applied for a $300,000 building permit. Soul Fish Cafe will rent the new free-standing building, which is under construction. The permit is for improvements to the building.
“We saw a great need in Cordova,” Soul Fish co-owner Raymond Williams said. “There are a lot of people in Cordova, and mainly just chain restaurants. We wanted to give people a local restaurant option.”
Soul Fish Cafe is also expanding into Mississippi, with plans to open a location in Oxford in mid-February. The Oxford location will be at 200 S. Lamar Court.
“We found a great location in Oxford at the corner of South Lamar and Belk, across the street from the new hospital,” Williams said.
The Oxford restaurant will be in a newly built strip mall that currently has a gym and a First Watch restaurant. According to Williams, a taco and tequila shop is also coming to the strip mall.
Soul Fish Cafe is known for its fried catfish and Southern sides.
