From wine tastings with vintners to presentations with local chefs, master sommelier Virginia Philip’s eponymous wine-and-spirits shop in Royal Poinciana Plaza hosts an ongoing roster of events, but now comes the biggest of them all: a one-night wine festival.
The al fresco Nov. 22 affair is set to feature dozens of international wines and small-bites pairings as guests enjoy it all in the plaza courtyard behind Virginia Philip Wine Spirits & Academy (VPWSA). It will be held from 6 to 8 p.m.
The inaugural VPWSA Wine Festival is part of the wine-and-spirits shop’s second anniversary at Royal Poinciana Plaza. Philip, who’s also the wine director at The Breakers, debuted her business in the plaza in November 2017 after it had a longtime presence in downtown West Palm Beach.

For the upcoming VPWSA Wine Festival, no more than 125 tickets will be sold. Philip’s business partner, sommelier Veronica Litton, handled much of the planning for the festival.
“We’ve been working on a festival for a long time and there will be exceptional wines,” said Litton, who also is the academy’s general manager. “Guests can stroll the courtyard and enjoy the season. It will be six days before Thanksgiving, so I think that will add to the celebratory spirit.”
More than 80 international wines will be offered to taste, such as Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs 2007; Futo OV SL Estate Red 2014; Louis Latour Corton Charlemagne 2017; Ornellaia 2016; Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars Cask 23 2014; and Chateau de Beaucastel Chateauneuf du Pape 2014.
The wine festival also will feature small-bites pairings from plaza restaurant Sant Ambroeus, and festival-goers will be given a complimentary VPWSA-engraved Reidel glass, as well as a $50 credit redeemable during the event toward the purchase of any featured wine.
Tickets to the inaugural festival are $100 apiece. For more information, including about the featured wines, or tickets, call 561-557-4202 or visit virginiaphilipwineandspirits.com
