Hillary Clinton On The Election: “I Take Responsibility For Every Decision I Made, But That’s Not Why I Lost”

During a discussion at the annual Code Conference in Ranchos Palos Verdes, California, Hillary Clinton spoke openly the role of “fake news” in swinging the election, Russia’s interference and collusion with the Trump campaign, and the DNC’s “poor” data. “I take responsibility for every decision I made, but that’s not why I lost,” Clinton said.

“The Russians, in my opinion, could not have known how best to weaponize that information unless they had been guided,” she said. When pressed on who she thinks colluded with Russia to supply this information, Clinton said, “I’m leaning Trump. I think it’s pretty hard not to.”

Clinton said her campaign had raised concerns about Russia’s involvement in the election last summer but that they were ignored. “Oh there she goes, vast right wing conspiracy — now it’s a vast Russian conspiracy. Well, it turns out we were right,” she said.

When asked by Walt Mossberg why she gave a paid speech to Goldman Sachs, Clinton responded, “Why do you have Goldman Sachs here?” Kara Swisher replied, “Because they pay us,” to which Clinton said, “They paid me.”

Clinton also said that social media sites like Facebook and Twitter need to do more to stop the spread of “fake news” on their platforms and to “help prevent fake news from creating a new reality.”

The former secretary of state offered her own joke about Trump’s “covfefe” tweet, telling interviewers Kara Swisher and Walt Mossberg, “I thought it was a hidden message to the Russians.”
