Gucci Mane Says He And Metro Boomin Recorded Droptopwop In Two Days

Gucci Mane has long been known for his prolificacy, and his work ethic has only increased since his release from federal prison in May 2016. Gucci, Mike WiLL, and Zaytoven recorded the comeback album, Everybody Looking, in just six days, but the Atlanta rapper recently told Zane Lowe that he made Droptopwop, a release celebrating his first year of freedom, even more quickly.

During the interview, Gucci revealed that he recorded the 10-track album with Metro Boomin over the course of two days, adding, “The only reason we didn’t do more songs is because Metro fell asleep.”

“You know when you sit down in a prison for three years it gives you time to think and just reflect on your whole life,” Gucci told Lowe about the past year. “And I feel like my life had got so out of control because everything that I was doing to lead up to it led to that ultimate collapse. So now I feel like when I got in there I started kinda like making an effort to say, “Hey listen, my life is going in a better direction.” I started doing the things that I make, that you see now come to fruition.”
