You may not immediately think “potato chips” when you think of summer, but Lay’s is out to change all that. They have a bunch of new flavors coming out just in time for all your summer barbecues and poolside snacking sessions, and there’s one in particular that’s blowing my mind: Lay’s BLT chips.
With every crispy bite, you get hit with the flavor of a classic BLT — bacon, lettuce, tomato, mayo — but you don’t actually have to go through the hassle of frying up a bunch of bacon and then struggling to eat a messy sandwich that’s basically a mayo Slip ‘N Slide for tomato slices and lettuce.
And you usually eat potato chips along with your sandwich, right? So why not just combine the two for maximum efficiency?
I know that meat-flavored snack foods are kind of iffy (looking at you, Chicken in a Biskit), but there’s something transcendent about the smoky, savory flavor of bacon that makes it work in everything from cocktails to doughnuts. But if you’re not sold on the concept, the other new summer flavors by Lay’s sound totally delicious too.
In addition to Lay’s BLT, there’s Lay’s Lime & Sea Salt, Ruffles Jalapeño Ranch, and Lay’s Kettle Less Fat Cooked Sweet Chili & Sour Cream, all of which sound totally binge-able and are available as of Memorial Day weekend at grocery stores.
Either way, it’s a far cry from the humdrum flavors I grew up snacking on. I guess getting older isn’t so bad after all!
