250. Being A Writer, and Being Yourself: An Interview with Sara Flynn and Meg Tilly

Sarah chats with romance author Sara Flynn and Golden Globe winning actress Meg Tilly – conveniently the same person! Sara attended RT for the first time, and was the emcee for the awards ceremony. We start by talking about identity, about being yourself, and investing your own energy in things you value. We also talk about her experience at RT, her writing, her process, and how acting may have informed her writing style. We also talk about her new book, Solace Island, and learning to write romance when it’s something you truly, truly love.

Trigger warning: 48:25 – 48:35 min

Earlier books published under the name Meg Tilly deal with abuse, and she mentions the plot of one that may be upsetting. So skip ahead if that might upset you, k? I want you to feel safe.

Beyond Reason

This podcast is brought to you by Beyond Reason by Kat Martin. New York Times bestselling author Kat Martin combines all the romantic tension readers love, but with more suspense than ever, debuting her brand-new writing direction with Beyond Reason.

Her new novel raises chills as danger stalks a woman determined to make it in a man’s world. Kat Martin is the latest to join this exciting trend in female-driven novels for the thriller audience, which is growing rapidly in the marketplace. Beyond Reason has all of Kat Martin’s strengths on full display: strong characters, plenty of fast-paced action and danger, hot alpha heroes, and her taut yet engaging writing style. But this time Kat Martin amps up the suspense for a thriller forward plot involving big-rig trucking, drug smuggling, murder, and lies.

Five weeks ago Carly Drake stood at her grandfather’s grave. Now she’s burying Drake Trucking’s top driver, and the cops have no leads on the hijacking or murder. Faced with bankruptcy, phone threats and the fear of failure, Carly has to team up with the last man she wants to owe—Lincoln Cain.

Cain is magnetic, powerful, controlling—and hiding more than one secret. He promised Carly’s granddad he’d protect her. The old man took a chance on him when he was nothing but a kid with a record, and now he’s the multi-millionaire owner of a rival firm.

But Linc’s money can’t protect Carly from the men who’ll do anything to shut her down, or the secrets behind Drake Trucking. If she won’t sell out, the only way to keep her safe is to keep her close . . . and fight like hell.

Beyond Reason is on sale now wherever books are sold and on KensingtonBooks.com.
